You can become part of the Platform of the Open Innovation Ecosystem through a simple and secure process. This gives you access to the platform’s key services: Data Space, Innovation Sandbox, and Marketplace. Below, we explain the steps:
1. Access the Unified Access Portal (PAU)
The PAU is the entry point to interact with all the services of the Platform of the Open Innovation Ecosystem (PIA). From here, you can create your user profile, sign in, manage your access to services (also called components), and begin participating in the platform.
Simply click the “Sign In” button and follow the secure authentication process — both for creating a user account for the first time and for future logins.
2. Secure Authentication with Microsoft Entra ID (OTP)
When you click “Sign In”, you will be redirected to the secure Microsoft Entra ID platform (login.microsoftonline.com).
• If it’s your first time, you’ll be able to create an account on the spot.
• If you already have an account, you can log in directly.
No password is required: you’ll receive a one-time passcode (OTP) by email. Once validated, you’ll be automatically redirected back to the PAU with your session active.
3. Request the Creation of Your Entity (“Create Company”)
To fully access PIA services, your organization must be registered on the platform.
In PIA, the term “company” is used broadly to refer to any participating organization: businesses, technology centers, universities, clusters, etc.
To request the creation of your company:
• Access the request form from the PAU
• Complete the required fields
• Attach the supporting documentation
Once reviewed and approved by the CoE team, your organization will be registered and you’ll be able to request access to all services: Data Space, Sandbox, and Marketplace. You do not need to create a company in order to download solutions from the Marketplace.
4. Request Access to PIA Services (Components)
Once your entity is registered, associated users can request access to the main components of the PIA:
• Data Space
Access secure environments to share, analyze, and reuse data collaboratively. Access is requested via a form within the PAU, once your entity is registered.
• Innovation Sandbox
Experiment, validate, and co-develop solutions in a controlled environment.
To request access, you’ll need to submit a technical summary of the innovation project you wish to develop, along with required documents and liability declarations.
• Marketplace for services and applications
Share technological solutions, reusable resources, modules, and algorithms focused on tourism and open innovation.
To publish your solutions, access is also managed through a form available in the PAU. To download solutions, no entity registration is needed — only a user account in the PAU is required.
Need help?
The Center of Operational Excellence (CoE) team is available to guide you through every step. If you have questions about the process, documentation, or requirements, you can contact the team via the support form available in the PAU.
Stakeholders in the Data Space:
- Tourism companies: From large operators to SMEs interested in enhancing their competitiveness through the use of data — either as consumers (to optimize processes, better understand customers, etc.) or as providers (sharing operational, demand-related, or other valuable data).
- Technology companies: Firms developing data-based solutions (analytics, artificial intelligence, management software, etc.) that need to access or publish datasets to build innovative products for the tourism sector.
- Public administrations: Government bodies that can leverage shared data to design more effective tourism policies, evaluate the impact of their initiatives, and foster a public-private collaboration model based on data.
- Universities and research centers: Academic and scientific institutions needing access to reliable data for applied research, policy evaluation, or the development of technological solutions based on tourism data intelligence.
- Sector associations: Clusters, innovation hubs, and business groups that promote their members' participation in tourism data-sharing initiatives, generating synergies and collaborative projects with real impact.
- Destinations: Destination management entities aiming to improve tourism management through high-quality data — such as visitor flow analysis, sustainability metrics, or planning of infrastructure and services.
Stakeholders in the Sandbox:
-
Technology companies: Organizations developing digital tools or technological services for the tourism sector that seek to build and validate their solutions.
-
Public administrations: Government bodies and destination managers interested in exploring and adopting innovative technologies to enhance visitor experience and optimize tourism management.
-
Universities and research centers: Academic and scientific institutions engaged in applied research in tourism and technology, seeking a space to experiment and transform ideas into practical solutions.
-
Sector associations: Business groups, technology clusters, and innovation hubs that foster collaboration among members and support the development of impactful joint tourism projects.
-
Destinations: Destination management entities that support companies providing tourism-oriented technological services to stimulate data exchange and promote new use cases (e.g., summer overcrowding, flow management, distant conference venues from accommodations) to improve destination operations and develop innovative products.
Stakeholders in the Marketplace
- Tourism companies:Access to technology to digitalize their services.
- StartupsOpportunity to promote solutions within a tourism-focused ecosystem.
- Public administrations:Destination management supported by innovative technologies.
- Tourists: Access to applications and services that enhance their travel experience.
